Manasota Mensa
Description:The first Mensa meetings in Florida's Manatee and Sarasota counties were held in 1976. As interest and the number of members grew, this area became a functioning subgroup of its parent, Tampa Bay Mensa. By November 1989, with 120 members, the group was confident and cohesive enough to gain its own charter and amicably separate from Tampa Bay Mensa. In February 2000, the Peace River Mensa group disbanded, and Charlotte and DeSoto counties joined Sarasota and Manatee counties in Manasota Mensa.
