Tampa Bay Mensa
Description:Tampa Bay Mensa started having informal meetings in 1965. By 1973, the cities of Tampa Bay and Orlando were in the same group. Tampa Bay was granted permission to form its own group in 1976. The first issue of the newsletter "Tampa Bay Sounding" was mailed to 144 members. Two counties south of the city of Tampa Bay split from Tampa Bay Mensa in 1989 and formed Manasota Mensa. The Tampa Bay group now has over 500 members and comprises five counties (Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, and Sumter) in the Tampa Bay area.
